On January 7, information from Nghe An Oncology Hospital said that on January 6, 2017, the hospital had successfully removed a very large mass from the uterus of a female patient. This is a rare patient with a deformed body, so the abnormal anatomical structure caused many difficulties for the doctors.

Previously, patient Ho Thi Tam (born in 1976, residing in Quynh Nghia commune, Quynh Luu district) was hospitalized with pain in the lower abdomen. According to her family, Tam was unfortunately born with a deformity, her body was not normal, her joints were often stiff and painful, and she had difficulty walking. More than 3 years ago, she could not walk, and all her personal activities depended on the care of family members.

Recently, she has been having constant pain in her lower abdomen, and when she touches it, she feels something hard. Her family took her to Nghe An Oncology Hospital for examination. Here, after doing tests, MRI scans, etc., the doctors diagnosed that Ms. Tam had a very large tumor in her pelvic area.

After consultation, due to the spine and bronchi being deformed, the anatomical structure was abnormal. The doctors decided to use the retrograde anesthesia method.

“The tumor was very large, the patient's body was weak and deformed, and the surgical position was not standard, so the surgery was very difficult,” shared Master Vu Dinh Giap (Nghe An Oncology Hospital).

After about 2 hours of surgery, the surgical team successfully removed the tumor. When removed, the tumor measured 23 x 20 cm and weighed about 2.5 kg. Currently, patient Tam's health has stabilized and is being monitored by doctors at Nghe An Oncology Hospital.
