In recent months, not only people in Hamlet 5, Xuan Hoa Commune (Nam Dan) but also in neighboring areas have been telling each other the story of Nguyen Dinh Quang (7 years old), a student in class 2B, Le Hong Son Primary School, Xuan Hoa Commune, who picked up lost property and returned it to its owner.

(Baonghean)In recent months, not only people in Hamlet 5, Xuan Hoa Commune (Nam Dan) but also in neighboring areas have been telling each other the story of Nguyen Dinh Quang (7 years old), a student in class 2B, Le Hong Son Primary School, Xuan Hoa Commune, who picked up lost property and returned it to its owner.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai (Quang's mother) said: That day was the afternoon of December 27, 2011 (lunar calendar), Quang asked his mother to go to his grandparents' house at the end of the village to play. While walking on the road, he picked up a bag of money that a woman had dropped on a bicycle. Quang ran after her and called out to her, but she didn't hear. After running about 1 kilometer, when he got near the end of the village, he saw a bicycle similar to the one the woman had just ridden. Quang guessed that it was the one that the woman had dropped the money on, so he called out: "Grandma! You dropped this money...", then returned it to her.

Ms. Mai said that when Quang told her the story, she did not believe it much. She was about to go to the house of the person who dropped the money, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, in Hamlet 5, Xuan Hoa Commune, to see if it was true. At that moment, Ms. Lien came to her house to thank her and said that the amount of money Quang picked up and returned to her was 10.5 million VND.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lien recounted: "That day, I held a bag of 10 million 5 hundred thousand dong, put it in my side pocket, then hurriedly cycled home to prepare for Tet. When I got home, parked my bike in the yard, and just entered the house, I heard a nephew calling:

"Grandma! You dropped this money...", I panicked and touched my pocket and was shocked to see that my wallet had fallen out. I didn't expect Quang, who was so young, to be aware of doing such a good deed. That day, if it weren't for Quang, all the money I had collected from the ward would have been lost and my debt would have piled up again."

Admiring Quang's work, Ms. Lien immediately went to the Board of Directors of Le Hong Son Primary School where Quang studied to inform them about Quang's work and asked the school to commend and reward him. The school then organized a commendation ceremony and presented Quang with gifts at a flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week. The People's Committee of Nam Dan district also awarded Quang a certificate of merit for "Excellent example in studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh".

It is known that Quang is a good child at home, always studies hard at school and achieves high results. And these days, Quang has started 3rd grade, surely the act of "picking up lost items and returning them to the owner" will be an example for other students in the school to follow.
