(Baonghean)In class 9A, Luong Minh Secondary School (Tuong Duong), there is a very special student, Quang Van Hung (born 1997), who writes with his left hand. It is worth mentioning that although he writes with his left hand, Hung's handwriting is still neat and straight, and his academic performance is not inferior to that of his classmates.

Hung's family situation is also very special. Like many other families in Minh Phuong village (Luong Minh commune), Hung's parents are serving prison sentences for drug trafficking and transportation. In that situation, Hung and his siblings have to rely on the care and support of their grandparents. Despite their difficult circumstances, having to clear land to farm, go into the forest to pick bamboo shoots to sell to have enough to eat every day, Mr. and Mrs. Luong Van Nam - Hung's grandparents, are still determined to send Hung and his siblings to school. According to the grandparents: "Having knowledge means having the opportunity to be good people."

Unfortunately, when he was young, while playing around, Hung lost most of his right hand, making all his daily activities extremely difficult. In first grade, Hung had to practice writing with his left hand. He confided: “At first, learning to write with my left hand was very difficult, and I wanted to stop going to school. But then I got used to it.” Every day, Hung went to class regularly and actively prepared his lessons.

Mr. Tran Quoc Hung - Principal of Luong Minh Secondary School said: "Hung is highly appreciated by his homeroom teacher and subject teachers for his spirit of striving in studying. Despite his difficult circumstances, he has the will to overcome difficulties, so his annual study results are very encouraging." The proof is that in 2007, Hung was awarded the "Fostering Vietnamese Talent" scholarship (worth 500,000 VND) by the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education and VNPT Group. Mr. Luong Van Nam confided: "Having raised Hung since he was young, I know he is very smart, he understands all tasks just by being told. This school year, he graduates from secondary school, I am afraid I won't have enough strength to send him to town to attend high school? Because his parents are in prison, my wife and I are old and weak, and we have several young grandchildren...".

When asked about his dreams and plans, Hung seemed hesitant to answer. Finally, we asked him to share his dreams on a piece of paper. Taking the paper and placing it on the table, Quang Van Hung wrote with his left hand: "I dream of becoming a teacher to teach children, so that they can have a bright future!"
