The story of the only Team Leader in Nghe An receiving the 'Pink Swallow 2022' award

This year, among the 20 Team Leaders nationwide honored, there is a teacher from Nghe An. That is Ms. Le Thi Thu Hoa - English teacher and Team Leader of Ha Huy Tap 2 Primary School (Vinh City, Nghe An).

Last school year, many joys came to the Ha Huy Tap 2 Primary School Union when the students achieved many impressive achievements. Notably, the first prize in the Nghe An Province Youth Creativity Contest 2021 - 2022, 1 second prize and 4 third prizes in the National English Champion and the first prize "Young Champion - handwriting, personality" organized by the Central Youth Union. In addition, the school's Union also received a Certificate of Merit for its outstanding achievements in the Union's work and children's movement in the 2021 - 2022 school year, awarded by the Vinh City Union Council.

Behind these achievements, teacher Le Thi Thu Hoa - English teacher and Team Leader of Ha Huy Tap 2 Primary School is considered the "fire keeper" for the school's Team activities and children's movements to increasingly improve in quality.

Ms. Hoa shared that she has been attached to the role of Team Leader through 3 schools where she worked for 16 years. In particular, from 2006 to 2011, she taught English and took on the role of Team Leader at Nghi Kim Primary School (Vinh city). Talking about the early days of entering the profession and taking on the role of Team Leader, she said that she had to face many surprises. Because this is a rather special job, there are not many documents and in fact, at that time, many people were still vague about Team work. Most people still think that Team work is only about dancing and singing and a large number of parents think that children only need to focus on studying, do not need to participate in extracurricular activities. That is also the reason why the movement at school has not really received the participation of students.

Understanding that psychology, she proactively explained to parents, at the same time, coordinated with subject teachers to arrange reasonable study time and participation in movements for students. Under the encouragement of the school's Board of Directors, she boldly tried to organize many activities and competitions to supplement scientific knowledge to help students equip themselves with life skills, improve social understanding, to be more confident and proactive in studying and practicing.

She even worked with the school representative to directly discuss with Regiment 764, Nghe An Province Military Command - the school's sister unit - to support and help renovate the Team activity room, in order to create a training space for the students.

Thanks to that, from 2007 to 2011, Nghi Kim Primary School, although newly merged into Vinh city, has repeatedly won the title of Excellent Youth Union of the city. Teachers and students together have created a vibrant learning and playing atmosphere, true to the saying: "Every day at school is a happy day".

In the 2011-2012 school year, she transferred to Nghi Duc Primary School and after 10 years of working here, in the 2019-2020 school year, she continued to be decided by the Vinh City People's Committee to work as a teacher in charge of the Team at Ha Huy Tap 2 Primary School. Under her leadership, the Team of the 2 schools has been recognized for many consecutive years as the Excellent Team, and has been awarded Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit by the Central, Provincial and City levels.

Change from the flag salute

It can be said that the later generations of students have changed a lot. They have access to mass media, so they are more confident, more individualistic and have a desire to assert themselves more than previous generations of students. This requires the need to improve education on traditions, ethics, lifestyle, history, heroic examples, glorious achievements of the nation and good human values.

From that purpose, Ms. Hoa has implemented many effective initiatives, including the initiative "Some innovative measures for flag-raising time with the model "One activity per week" at the Primary School Union. The initiative has been effectively applied in Vinh city and recognized in Decision No. 4818 /QD-UBND.TĐKT, dated August 28, 2020 of the Chairman of the City People's Committee.

If in the past, the flag-raising ceremony on Monday mornings was simply a ritual organized according to regulations, now students have become the subject and directly participate in activities suitable to topics and themes such as telling stories about Uncle Ho, recreating stories about his life and career through dramatization. Or presenting about books and historical figures of the country in general, Nghe An in particular. Thanks to that, it has created a change in students' thinking and perception.

At the same time, during the flag salute, students can show their talents through artistic performances... From here, the school has discovered many young talents to have the conditions to guide them to develop in the most appropriate way.

During her 16 years in charge of the school's Youth Union, she has implemented more than 10 new effective models and initiatives that have been recognized at the provincial and municipal levels. With her strengths in English and painting, she has accompanied and supported her students to achieve high prizes in the National English Champion Contest, the National TOEFL Primary Contest and painting competitions organized by the Central Youth Union Council.

At the age of 44, no longer young, Ms. Hoa still devotes all her enthusiasm to the roles she undertakes. Almost every year, she achieves the title of Excellent Team Leader Teacher at the provincial and city levels, is an excellent young party member, a grassroots Emulation Fighter, and has received many Certificates of Merit and Merit Certificates at all levels.

Notably, in 2022, she became the only representative of Nghe An to be honored with the "Pink Swallow" award. It can be said that her passion for the Young Pioneers' work and her love for her students have helped teacher Le Thi Thu Hoa always maintain her enthusiasm for the profession, making a significant contribution to the development of the schools she works at.
