With this product, Kien was honored to win a silver medal at the 9th International Exhibition of Young Science and Technology Innovation (IEYI) 2013, which recently took place in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
With a small stature, student Dau Ba Kien has been passionate about computer science since he was a child. Outside of school hours, he often works on the computer and makes models to satisfy his passion for creativity. Mr. Dau Ba Can, Kien's father, said: "Since he was in 6th grade, he has known how to research computer software, but I was surprised that he found a way to use technology for people with disabilities. As soon as the 5th creative competition for children and teenagers was launched, Kien asked his family's permission to participate in the competition."
“After registering the topic and diligently implementing the idea, with 10 days of self-study and self-study of documents, my son successfully wrote “KF Mouse software - a technology solution for people with disabilities. I was even more proud when later, my son was on the list of members to participate in the competition for young creators and won a silver medal” - Mr. Can could not hide his emotion mixed with pride for his 9th grade son.
On the afternoon of May 13, upon learning that Dau Ba Kien had just won a Silver Medal at the International Youth Creativity Competition, the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province invited student Kien, his family, and representatives of Nguyen Truong To Secondary School to hold an award ceremony to promptly honor the achievements of this young innovator.
At the award ceremony, young innovator Dau Ba Kien emotionally said: “When I heard that my product won the international youth innovation contest, I was very happy and moved. I would like to thank my family, teachers, friends, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Binh Phuoc province and the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Phuoc province for their attention, creating conditions and helping me to participate in this contest. My idea came from seeing people with disabilities unable to use computers, as well as unable to integrate into the information technology community, so I came up with this software to contribute a small part to helping everyone."
To get the product “KF Mouse Software - Technology solution for the disabled”, Kien had to spend more than 1 month searching for documents and failed many times. Because the research documents for this software are very limited, while he had to translate foreign documents himself. After having all the documents, Kien researched for 1 week to complete the product.
Currently, Kien is still continuing to research to further perfect his product, so that he can apply it in practice. With his creativity, Kien has helped people with disabilities who no longer have hands to use computers at a simple level.
