(Baonghean.vn) - Ho Chi Minh City Club proposes to discipline FIFA referee team; Vietnamese referees practice VAR on the football field for the first time; Vietnamese women's team receives "huge" bonus when participating in World Cup 2023... are notable sports news in the past 24 hours.

Ho Chi Minh City Club proposes to discipline FIFA referee team

Believing that the referee team made mistakes in the 1-2 loss of Ho Chi Minh City Club on the field of Song Lam Nghe An in round 11, the team's leaders sent a petition to VFF and VPF.

In the document, Ho Chi Minh City Club pointed out three situations that affected the match result. The first was the loss of a goal in the 18th minute when player Tran Nam Hai of Song Lam Nghe An participated in the situation leading to the goal while being offside. Assistant Le Xuan Vu did not detect it. Ho Chi Minh City Club said that the second assistant deliberately did not raise the flag.

The second situation was in the 88th minute when central defender Tran Dinh Hoang fouled striker Victor Mansaray of Ho Chi Minh City Club. FIFA referee Nguyen Manh Hai did not blow the whistle and let the match continue. Ho Chi Minh City Club believed that it was a mistake by the player of Song Lam Nghe An and that a penalty and a red card were needed for Dinh Hoang because Mansaray had a chance to score.

Third, Ho Chi Minh City Club believes that the referee's 3 minutes of extra time is too little. The team explains that Mansaray's reaction to the referee alone lasted a minute, and the match also had many situations where the ball went out and players were lying on the field after the extra time announcement. Ho Chi Minh City Club believes that the referee deliberately protected the 2-1 victory forLam River Nghe An.

Ho Chi Minh City Club also mentioned the referee team's mistake in the loss to Hanoi Club on April 8. In that match, FIFA assistant Pham Lam Minh Dang was disciplined for making a serious mistake. From there, the team wanted VFF and VPF to review the refereeing work and discipline the FIFA referee team in the loss to Song Lam Nghe An in round 11.

After the match, Coach Vu Tien Thanh said: "When we were on the field, we didn't pay attention. After reviewing, we realized that it was an invalid goal by Song Lam Nghe An. Song Lam Nghe An players were offside and participated in that attack but the referee team didn't detect it."

Nam Dinh fans set off flares, Hanoi Club receives penalty from VFF

The Vietnam Football Federation's Disciplinary Board announced penalties for Hanoi and Nam Dinh Clubs in round 11 of V-League 2023 due to the burning of flares.

Specifically, Hanoi Club paid a fine of 20 million VND for letting spectators light flares. The visiting team Nam Dinh also paid a fine of 15 million VND for letting their fans light flares.

Hanoi FC was fined for allowing away team fans to set off flares.

This is the second time this season that Hanoi FC has had to pay a fine for this incident. The previous fine was in round 5 when Hanoi FC hosted Hai Phong at Hang Day Stadium. Although Hanoi FC deployed security measures and checked the belongings of spectators before entering the stadium, flares still appeared.

In addition to the two penalties above, the Disciplinary Board of the Vietnam Football Federation also fined Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club 2 million VND because 5 players received yellow cards in the match against Binh Dinh Club.

Vietnamese referees practice VAR on the football field for the first time

On June 8, VPF and VFF organized a session to apply VAR to real-life simulation situations for V-League referees.

The practical VAR operation session for Vietnamese referees was organized by VPF and VFF under the supervision of FIFA representatives. The 18 Vietnamese referees participating in the training were divided into 4 operating teams.

Supporting and running the practice session were former referee Vo Minh Tri - Member of the VFF Referee Board and former referee Pham Manh Long. The U17 Hanoi FC players were the ones competing on the field to simulate real situations.

Players are tasked with practicing situations such as breaking the offside trap, committing a hidden foul or kicking the ball into the hands of an opposing defender in the penalty area so that VAR can intervene. Even the referees will be "surrounded" by players to be closer to reality.

The referee reviewed the situation on the screen on the field.

The VAR team from the mobile van, guided by a FIFA expert, will relay information to the referee on the field. The main referee is the only person allowed to communicate with the VAR team, while the assistants have the right to listen to the conversation but not respond to requests.

The camera system is placed in different locations on the field and always records and connects online to the VAR system in the mobile vehicle. The main referees will directly refer to the slow-motion images from the screen on the field in necessary situations.

Before entering this practice session, the Vietnamese referees have undergone theoretical training steps and 2 concentrated training sessions at the LAB room. As planned, the Vietnamese referees will practice VAR in a real match on June 14./.
