"Banana tree for education" in Nghia Dan
(Baonghean) - Each youth union member and each elderly person plants a banana tree to encourage learning... From more than 100 banana trees when the campaign was launched, up to now, the whole Nghia Hoi commune (Nghia Dan) has more than 4,000 banana trees planted to encourage learning.
From the model of "Banana tree for encouraging learning" of Nghia Hoi commune, Nghia Dan Association for Promoting Learning has coordinated with the Association of the Elderly to replicate the model of "Banana tree for encouraging learning" throughout the district. After one year of implementation, not only the elderly but also people from all walks of life in the district have responded very well. Many communes have done well such as Nghia Binh, Nghia Khanh, Nghia Thang.
This is a meaningful and effective form of raising the Education Promotion Fund, creating a strong influence throughout the district. In addition to replicating the "Banana Tree for Education Promotion" model, communes also build their own education promotion models such as "Bamboo Tube for Education Promotion", build a family Education Promotion Fund with piggy banks from small change. The District Education Promotion Association also encourages members to switch from giving lucky money to their children and grandchildren during Tet to a family education promotion fund.
Thanks to that, in the past year, the Education Promotion Fund in the hamlets in Nghia Dan had nearly 500 million VND, bringing the total Education Promotion Fund of the district to more than 1 billion VND. Thousands of students who passed the college and university entrance exams, excellent students, and students with difficulties were given gifts from this fund. Many students have made efforts to overcome difficulties thanks to the encouragement from the Education Promotion Fund.
The learning promotion models of Nghia Dan district are contributing to promoting the learning movement and building a "learning society" in the whole district. These are meaningful models that need to be replicated more widely not only in Nghia Dan district but also in the whole province.
