'Initiative trees' at the grassroots level help businesses save billions of dong
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, the Campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" has been implemented by departments, branches, units and enterprises across the province with many practical and meaningful activities and movements.
Through that, there have also appeared advanced models with many improvements and innovations in expertise, helping units save tens of billions of dong.
Creativity is limitless
At Minh Anh - Kim Lien Garment Company, Mr. Hoa Van Tan is considered a record holder and a pioneer in implementing initiatives and technical improvements. At the age of 35, he can also be considered the "king" of young initiatives, because from 2018 to now, he has had 157 initiatives for the unit and brought benefits and savings to the business of billions of dong.
Before working at Minh Anh - Kim Lien Garment Company, Mr. Tan was just a common laborer and had 4 years of experience working at a garment company in Ho Chi Minh City. Without a formal education or training, and not having worked for much time, when he first joined the company, he, like many other workers, only worked as a simple worker in the sewing team.

However, with his inquisitive, hard-working, and creative nature, during his work, he always struggled with his job and always tried to improve the production process to increase labor productivity. His first initiatives also came from the actual working process. After each initiative was applied and put into production, bringing benefits, he had more motivation to try. Seeing his enthusiasm for work and creative thinking ability, Mr. Hoa Van Tan was later promoted to technical staff and is now the leader of the improved jig team.
Talking about the initiatives he has directly implemented, Mr. Tan said that, whether “big or small”, his goal is to help reduce labor, save time and increase productivity and work efficiency. In the process of implementation, to achieve this criterion, he applies machinery and technical equipment to the processes. He also said that in the garment industry, each product and each order has its own characteristics and properties. Therefore, the creativity of technical workers is unlimited and depending on the products, there are different improvements.

However, for the initiative to be effective and put into practice, the implementer must be knowledgeable in the profession, have a firm grasp of techniques from cutting and sewing, using machines, and constantly self-study, self-exploration, and creativity. For example, a simple improvement like the pocket gluing initiative. Previously, to complete this step in a garment product, it took 3-4 workers to carry out the processes, from marking the body of the scarf, using an iron to iron it flat, and then implementing it. But after the improvement of putting it into a programming machine, the process was shortened and the work efficiency was tripled...
With these innovative initiatives, in recent years, Mr. Tan's projects have helped the company save more than 1.3 billion VND. He himself has been continuously awarded by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union for many years for his outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good Labor - Creative Labor", and was honored as "Outstanding Worker".
Minh Anh Group also honored him as an excellent employee of the company, the individual award with the most initiatives. On this occasion, he was also proposed by the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union to be awarded the Nguyen Duc Canh Award. This is a noble award of the Vietnam Trade Union to honor workers directly involved in production at units and enterprises of all economic sectors, with the most outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good workers - Creative workers".
At the Industry and Trade Union, Mr. Ho Huu Khanh, currently the Head of the Mechanical Maintenance Team at Nafoods Group Joint Stock Company, is also a typical individual proposed for the Nguyen Duc Canh Award. At the age of over 50, Mr. Khanh said that he was quite surprised to be honored by the company and the industry union. However, that was the motivation for him to try and strive, not for himself but for the benefit of the business.
Previously, having worked in the food processing industry, Mr. Khanh said that ensuring food safety and hygiene is an important step that needs to be given top priority. Therefore, in his initiatives, he often improves techniques to ensure conditions for safe and effective food storage. In addition, the initiatives aim to increase productivity and production efficiency, helping to increase profits for the unit.

Among the initiatives he has implemented, the solution of connecting 2 chillers to cool the product temperature after pasteurization has brought many benefits, such as reducing the product freezing time from 72 hours to 48 hours, reducing the cost of freezing electricity. Thereby, each year this initiative helps reduce the unit's cost by nearly 1 billion VND. Or with the initiative of processing 5mm sour lemon slicing machines, after a period of use, the productivity has increased, earning more than 2.3 billion VND/year.
In our company, I am one of the oldest and a long-time party member. Therefore, despite the difficulties and hardships, I have to be a pioneer, take the lead and set an example for other colleagues. These are also practical actions that we do to respond to the Campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle".
Unleashing the potential of workers
For many years, the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union has launched the Campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" to all affiliated units and employees.
With the characteristics of the units mainly being production and business, the implementation at the grassroots level is realized through specific actions, associated with emulation movements such as "Good workers - Creative workers", "Green, clean, beautiful - Ensuring occupational safety and health", "Promoting initiatives, improving techniques, rationalizing production". On the side of the grassroots trade unions, they have also launched and signed emulation commitments according to the characteristics of each unit.

As in 2022, in the context of the pandemic, many programs have been promptly implemented, contributing to helping businesses overcome difficulties and stabilize production and business such as "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic", "40 peak days".
Emulation movements to promote initiatives, improve techniques, and rationalize production in the industry and trade sector have brought about high economic efficiency, contributing to the benefits of businesses.
Thanks to that, the potential and intelligence of workers have been aroused, creating a combined strength for businesses to stabilize and develop. At the same time, it has created motivation for cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and laborers to compete in labor, production, creativity in work, and complete assigned tasks well.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh taught that "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation". Imbued with Uncle Ho's teachings, in recent times, trade unions at all levels in the province have launched many patriotic emulation movements, especially the "Good workers - Creative workers" emulation movement.

Every year, the Provincial Federation of Labor directs trade unions at all levels to organize meetings, commend and honor outstanding individuals. In the past 2 years alone, the Provincial Federation of Labor has selected 133 collectives to be awarded the Emulation Flag of the Provincial Federation of Labor and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and 462 exemplary individuals to be commended at the provincial level.
