Barca fans circumvent the law, shouting 'Ronaldo doesn't drink water'

Faced with a fine for singing “Ronaldo is drunk”, Barcelona fans have come up with a new way to mock the Real Madrid star.

More than a week ago, in the 5-0 victory over Levante in La Liga, Barca fans in the Nou Camp stadium sang: "Ronaldo is a drunkard" with the ironic implication that the Portuguese player held a birthday party after the 4-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish Football League (LFP) concluded that a group of fans called Almogavers were the ringleaders of this behavior. Although Almogavers later denied this, saying that the behavior went against their tradition.

While Barca are facing the threat of being punished, their fans have come up with another way to mock Ronaldo. Instead of mocking the Real star as a “drunkard”, Barca fans are singing: “He doesn’t drink water, Cristiano doesn’t drink water, he doesn’t drink water”.

Ronaldo ended a nearly month-long drought with a goal against Schalke 04 on Wednesday. The striker had previously been banned for two matches after receiving a red card against Cordoba. Ronaldo returned to the side against Atletico Madrid but could not prevent Real from suffering a humiliating defeat. However, the star still threw a birthday party after the defeat, which earned him much criticism from the public.

Last weekend, Ronaldo continued to score to help Real beat Elche 2-0, thereby helping the Madrid team widen the gap with Barca to four points in the La Liga rankings.
