Father killed, two sons seriously injured after brawl on river

According to forensic examination results, the two victims had multiple cuts to their heads and faces. “They were seriously injured before falling into the river,” an investigator said.

Rescuers have found the bodies of two of the three missing victims.

Mr. Mai Minh Phung, Chairman of Hai Chau Commune People's Committee, said that the search for the last victim, Le Kim Cuong, is still underway.

This afternoon, after the investigation agency completed the autopsy procedures, the two victims were handed over to their families for burial. The most devastating loss was for Mr. Dung's family when he lost his life, and his two sons, To Van Dan (36 years old) and To Van Manh (40 years old), were seriously injured and are currently in critical condition.

According to authorities, due to a conflict over tidal clam farming and exploitation on the Yen River between households in Dien village (Quang Nham commune, Quang Xuong district) and households in Bac Chau village (Hai Chau commune, Tinh Gia district), at noon on July 7, fishermen from both sides prepared weapons and agreed to fight.

Quang Nham commune, Quang Xuong district, prepared about 30 small rafts carrying nearly 60 people. Nearly 30 people from Hai Chau commune, Tinh Gia went on a large motorboat and 2 motorized rafts to the river to fight. The two groups carried many weapons such as bricks, stones, sticks and knives. At 11am, the two sides rushed into battle. 3 people were slashed and thrown into the river. Many people were seriously injured.

Regarding the incident, the investigation agency is taking statements from relevant people to strengthen the case file. Patients being treated at the hospital are being closely monitored by the police.
