Termination of unqualified driver contract

(Baonghean) -With the determination to deal with drivers who are "involved" with drugs and are not in good health but still drive, all levels and functional sectors in Nghe An province have actively taken action, first of all by organizing health checks for all drivers. Thereby, health certificates will not be issued to those who violate social evils or are not in good health to drive, and at the same time, transport units and enterprises will be required not to sign labor contracts with unqualified drivers.

In order to carry out health examinations for all drivers in Nghe An, the Department of Transport has coordinated with the Department of Health and the Nghe An Automobile Transport Association to request transport businesses and bus station operators to review and examine the health of all drivers, requiring 100% of the driver team to be checked and thereby promptly handling drivers who do not meet health requirements or use drugs.

The general health check for drivers was held in mid-March 2014 and Vinh City General Hospital was one of the locations chosen to organize health checks for drivers. According to regulations, drivers must have their health checked from weight, height, vision, hearing, blood pressure, cardiovascular to urine test and all of these health check steps are supervised by officials of the Department of Health and Department of Transport. And to facilitate passenger transport, officials of the health sector and related units directly came to check the health of drivers and assistants right at Vinh Bus Station. With the active participation of relevant levels and sectors through flexible organization of check-ups, the general health check for drivers in Nghe An was not only carried out seriously and synchronously, but also did not affect the situation of passenger transport activities in the area, which was highly appreciated by the people.

Up to now, the Department of Transport has basically completed the general health check of drivers in the province. According to Mr. Dinh Van Nam, Head of the Department of Vehicle and Driver Management - Nghe An Department of Transport, "The Department of Transport has organized health checks for 2,400 drivers and assistant drivers in the province, thereby detecting 15 cases positive for drugs, forcing the managing units and enterprises to terminate the contract. As for the 40 cases that voluntarily left the examination midway, the Department has also requested them to return to the hospitals for examination according to regulations, otherwise they will be handled promptly. Through the inspection, it was found that the health of the driver team is mainly good and average. In particular, there are enterprises with a large number of drivers, but through this inspection, there were no cases of violating social evils or not being healthy enough to drive."

Through the general health check of drivers, Van Minh Company Limited was evaluated by the Department of Transport as one of the enterprises that performed this task very well. As a result, 100% of drivers had health check and met the requirements. Mr. Nguyen Huu Lam, Head of Organization and Administration Department of Van Minh Company Limited said: "In order to recruit drivers with good health, good driving skills and responsibility for the job, right from the beginning of the recruitment process, the enterprise has carefully selected and screened the records. To drive for the enterprise, even if the drivers have many years of experience, after meeting the requirements, they must follow the correct procedures, will be apprenticed for 10 days and if they meet the company's standards, they will be on probation for 1 month.

During that process, the activities of apprentice and probationary drivers are all managed and closely monitored by the vehicle teams, and during this process, if there are any violations or unusual manifestations, they will be checked and promptly handled. In the past, there were probationary drivers who were eliminated because of improper communication and behavior with customers, or had unusual manifestations. Van Minh Company Limited is an enterprise that always pays attention to periodic health check-ups for officers and employees. Every year, the unit fully performs health check-ups and fully pays insurance... Or Thach Thanh private enterprise also has 100% of drivers meeting the requirements through the health check-up, no drivers were found to be positive for addictive substances or drugs.

Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company, along with creating very favorable conditions for functional sectors to organize health checks for drivers right at Vinh Bus Station, also strictly organizes the management of drivers and vehicles. Mr. Vo Xuan Thanh, Deputy General Director of Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company said: "Every day at Vinh Bus Station, there are about 300 vehicles that close the departure order and from May 1, at Vinh Bus Station, when drivers register the driver list and register for passenger transport, they must present a driver's health certificate. If there is no such certificate, the station will request a replacement driver and in case the driver is not replaced, the departure schedule will not be made. At the same time, Vinh Bus Station has opened a health monitoring book for drivers".

Driver health check is one of the important factors to improve the quality of the current driver team, so Nghe An Department of Transport needs to regularly organize this practical activity.
