Nghe An is a large locality with 11 mountainous districts, with a large number of ethnic minorities living. Thanks to that, the ethnic minority life is stable, has developed, and the poverty rate has decreased by 3-4% annually. Despite these advances, the mountainous ethnic minority areas of the province still face many difficulties and need the attention and support of the state, all levels and sectors.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that the issue of ethnicity and national unity is a matter of great concern to the Party and State. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the results of ethnic work in the past year. He suggested that in the coming time, ministries, central branches, especially local Party committees and authorities, focus on directing ethnic work. In particular, it is necessary to continue to allocate investment resources to remote areas; arrange qualified cadres to undertake tasks in ethnic and mountainous areas; It is necessary to regularly urge and inspect ethnic work to grasp the implementation of ethnic policies and guidelines; In addition to the Central Resolution, it is necessary to issue separate resolutions on ethnic and mountainous development policies, along with arousing and promoting the spirit of self-reliance of ethnic groups to jointly build a life for ethnic minorities to develop.
