Preliminary judging of the 7th National Press Awards 2012

There are 1,450 works eligible for the award (including 1,253 works by members of the Journalists Association and 197 works by collaborators).

On the afternoon of May 9, the Vietnam Journalists Association opened the preliminary round of the 7th National Press Awards 2012. This is the year with the highest number of entries to the National Press Awards ever.

According to the announcement of the General Secretariat, the National Press Awards Council, by the end of April 5, 2013, the General Secretariat had received 1,540 works from 146 press units nationwide (of which the Central Journalists Association and Branches were 56 units; Journalists Associations of provinces and cities and 59 units, with 31 individuals sending press photos).

The General Secretariat said that there were 1,450 works eligible for the award (including 1,253 works by members of the Journalists Association and 197 works by collaborators). This is the year with the highest number of works participating in the National Press Award ever.

The number of works is distributed into 13 categories:

For print newspapers, there are 3 types of awards: News, reflection articles, interviews; Editorials, comments, essays, journalistic sketches; Reportage, investigative reportage, journalistic notes, notes.

For press photos, there are 2 types of awards: Single photo; Group of photos, photo reportage.

For radio, there are 3 types of awards: News, reflections, interviews, commentary, seminars; Reportage, investigative reportage, radio memoirs; General radio topics.

For Television, there are 3 types of awards: News, reports, and memoirs; Commentary, exchange, and discussion; Television documentaries.

For electronic newspapers, there are 2 types of awards: News, reflection articles, interviews, comments; Reportage, investigative reportage, journalistic notes, notes.

The preliminary judging panel of the 7th National Press Awards is chaired by Mr. Tran Gia Thai - Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Director of Hanoi Radio and Television Station, and has 69 members who are prestigious journalists nationwide. The panel worked from May 9-22.

The final round of the 7th National Press Awards will take place in late May and early June. The closing and award ceremony will take place on Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21)./.
