Diagnosing diseases through palm lines.
Russian scientists are researching a method of diagnosing diseases through the fingerprints on the hands. This method is based on scientific knowledge from the field of dermatoglyphics.
According to scientists, fingerprints form when the fetus is in the womb, in the fourth month of pregnancy, and never change since. The only way to erase fingerprints is to peel the skin off the finger. The founder of fingerprint biometrics in Russia was the anthropologist Mikhail Volotsky. He demonstrated that it is possible to classify people according to the patterns on their fingertips.

From there, researchers collected data on the classifications and found that people with similar patterns on their hands were more likely to suffer from similar diseases. The match between three data points—gender, disease nature, and age of onset—allowed the conclusion that this person had a similar disease to patients in the database. Doctors then had the opportunity to better determine the course of treatment.
This is the diagnostic method being researched by scientists from the city of Rostov-on-Don, in southern Russia. They look for signs of various diseases, and then determine which fingerprints indicate a specific illness.
They found fingerprints associated with psoriasis, peptic ulcers, cirrhosis, Down syndrome, and other congenital diseases. The scientists stated that while this method doesn't provide a complete diagnosis, it helps doctors detect diseases early.
