Blocked the road and stabbed the girl to steal her handbag

On September 21, Diep, 36 years old, residing in Thach Ha district (Ha Tinh), was prosecuted and detained by Cam Xuyen district police (Ha Tinh) for the crime ofRobbery, according to Article 168 of the Penal Code.

According to the investigation, at around 11:00 a.m. on September 11, Diep prepared a 20-cm-long knife wrapped in a newspaper, removed the license plate of his motorbike, and then "patrolled" on national and provincial highways in Thach Ha and Cam Xuyen districts with the intention of robbing passersby.

At 1 p.m. the same day, while stopping at a red light on Highway 1 at the Hoi market intersection, Cam Xuyen town, Cam Xuyen district, Diep discovered a girl (25 years old, from Cam Hoa commune) carrying a handbag and driving a motorbike, so he followed her.

Authorities allege that while passing through a deserted field, seeing no one around, Diep drove ahead, approached her, and pretended to ask for directions. When she slowed down to answer, Diep pushed against the front of the car, forcing her to stop. He then pulled out a knife, threatened her, and demanded money.

The girl panicked, ran away and fell on the road. Diep chased after her and stabbed her in the arm and back. The victim threw her bag a few meters away. Diep saw this and immediately picked it up and drove away from the scene.

After running a few kilometers, Diep opened her bag, took out nearly 2 million VND and the iPhone inside, then took a bus to Dong Nai.

From the victim’s report, 4 days later Diep was arrested by the police while hiding in a motel in Phuoc Thien commune, Nhon Trach district. Working with the police, Diep confessed that he robbed to get money to buy drugs.
