Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan in Hamlet 10, Ngoc Son Commune, Quynh Luu District has been a member of the Commune Farmers' Association's Livestock Club for 3 years. Since joining the Club, the Commune Farmers' Association has given her the opportunity to attend veterinary training courses and apply scientific and technical advances to livestock farming.
Her family has boldly expanded the livestock farm. Currently, her family has 60-70 sows and pigs, selling 4-5 litters each year, earning a profit of 80-100 million VND/year. In addition, taking advantage of the garden land, she also raises more than 100 chickens for meat to serve the consumption needs of people in the village and in the commune.
Ngoc Son Commune has now established two clubs, including a chicken, pig, and beef fattening club and a beekeeping club with 54 members. To support and help each other in economic development, the clubs have established a fund, with each member contributing 50,000 - 100,000 VND per month. This amount will be lent to members in difficulty with preferential interest rates to expand their farms. In addition, the Commune Farmers' Association coordinates with the Bac Nghe An Technical and Economic Vocational College to open veterinary and vocational classes for members. Each year, 8 training classes and 2 vocational classes are organized. Along with that, the Commune Farmers' Association also supported part of the funding for members in the Clubs to operate and organize visits to some economic models in the province... Mr. Ho Huu Tu - Chairman of the Ngoc Son Commune Farmers' Association said: "Club members regularly exchange with each other about diseases in livestock, about market prices, learn about methods in livestock farming... Thereby, to learn and draw experiences to apply to family livestock farming. At the same time, gain more knowledge to apply the diversification of livestock to increase family income..."
The deer raising club model of Quynh My Commune Farmers' Association was established in mid-2013, with 25 members participating, creating conditions for economic development and stable employment for members. Up to now, the total deer herd in the commune is 85. This is an easy-to-raise animal, mainly eating grass, vegetables, and tubers from home gardens. When participating in the club, members are taught experiences in raising and caring for deer, and scientific and technical knowledge on disease prevention and treatment. Thanks to that, the deer herds of families always grow well and provide good luck. Talking about the economic efficiency of deer, Mr. Ngo Quang Quynh - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Quynh My commune said: "For a deer that gives antlers in 1 year, it is 1kg, and 1kg is currently sold for about 13 million VND; as for deer, a deer that gives antlers in 1 year is about 5kg and 6 million VND/kg. Currently, compared to other animals, the deer farming model gives a relatively high economic interest rate."
Up to now, the Farmers' Association of Quynh Luu district has established 13 effective clubs. Among them, there are 2 beekeeping clubs, 4 fattening cattle clubs, 4 deer raising clubs, 2 aquaculture clubs and 1 lean pig raising club. The establishment of clubs to support each other in economic development has contributed to promoting the livestock industry in the district to develop more and more strongly, increasing economic value and income for farmers. At the same time, through that, step by step, Quynh Luu is built to become more and more prosperous.
