Little things make miracles

As a former soldier, after 2 years of military service, returning to his hometown with the rank of sergeant, Le Van Tuan (from Tao Son, Anh Son) started attending a vocational training class in Vinh to build his future.

However, his life took a different turn when he met with an accident. While fixing the electricity for his uncle's family on the eve of Tet, Mr. Tuan was electrocuted. After the accident, he permanently lost both arms and his legs were at risk of having to be amputated.

"At that time, my family and I were devastated both physically and mentally. I thought that from now on I was useless, my life had come to a dead end. At that time, I asked my family to let me do the organ donation procedure, but my family did not agree and tried to find every way to treat me" - Mr. Le Van Tuan confided.

Telling more about the difficulties and depression at that time, Mr. Tuan said that many times he lost all faith in life, the future and many dreams when he was a normal person. "From a healthy person, the pillar of my parents, I have now become a disabled person, the cost of treatment is too high" - Mr. Tuan said.

Mr. Le Van Tuan performed the song "Noi ay con tim ve" at the congress of delegates of Nghe An Youth Union on the morning of October 4.

Sharing at the conference about a person's dreams and happiness, Mr. Tuan confided: For him and many other disabled people, the biggest dream and desire is to have a complete body like everyone else so that they can take care of themselves, to be confident and comfortable doing what they like.

However, Mr. Tuan understands that not everyone is born equally lucky. Some people are born healthy, some are born with deformities or disabilities, some are born healthy but due to accidents or injuries, they become disabled, etc.

Seeing his parents collapse, Mr. Tuan told himself that as a son, he had to try hard, overcome his fate, and live optimistically to reassure his parents.

"I realized that life should not be a beautiful book but a good book. I tried to create an independent life for myself" - Mr. Tuan shared. Since then, like a three-year-old child, he started to be independent again from the smallest things such as personal activities, to reduce the hardships and difficulties for his relatives. "For normal people, those are very small things, but for me, it is a miracle" - Mr. Tuan emotionally said.

Rise up and master your life

After practicing personal activities, Mr. Tuan began to think about finding a suitable job to help his family financially and support his parents. He chose a career in information technology, installing software, selling computer and phone components, and opening a small shop to repair phones, provide internet services, ... to serve the needs of the people.

After 3 years, Mr. Tuan has created a store providing services such as internet cafes, phones, sim cards... for people in the area.

In addition, Mr. Tuan also trained some computer staff to support him in the work process. Thanks to that, although he is disabled, he has risen up to take care of his own life, not being a burden to his family and society.

Disabled but not useless, Mr. Tuan himself still loves this life, hopes for a brighter tomorrow, and strives to surpass himself every day to prove it to everyone and society. He actively participates in social activities organized by the commune union, union and association meetings. Although he cannot do much, with the responsibility of a young man, he always contributes many ideas to build the union and association movement to operate more and more effectively.

"I personally feel happier when participating in Youth Union and Association activities and contributing to deepening the movement, attracting a large number of youth union members to participate" - Mr. Tuan shared.

In addition, he also traveled to many places to participate in charity programs with the group "Gem in the heart", serving as a bridge for people with disabilities to share their difficulties in life.

Sending his expectations to the Congress, Mr. Le Van Tuan hopes that the Association at all levels will have more programs and activities to support the disabled, so that they can rise up to support themselves and make even small contributions to their families and society.

The Youth Union at all levels will be a bridge for disabled youth to have opportunities to exchange, study, learn a trade, find jobs and participate equally in social activities, accompanying disabled youth such as: Establishing a provincial disabled youth club; connecting and supporting output for products made by disabled youth; organizing activities to visit, help, and give gifts to disabled youth...
