(Baonghean.vn) - Born into a poor family, but with a gifted singing voice, Thai ethnic boy La Hoang Quy in Xieng Huong village, Xa Luong (Tuong Duong), entered the final round of Sao Mai in the Northern region.

La Hoang Quy (1994) was born and raised in a family of 4 children, in Xieng Huong village, Xa Luong, Tuong Duong. His parents were farmers who worked very hard all year round to raise 4 children to study. The family's life became more difficult in 2005 when his father had a serious accident, all expenses were spent on his treatment.

At that time, the family's conditions were very difficult, at that time Quy thought of dropping out of school to help his parents reduce the hardship. But his parents encouraged him to try to go to school because his parents themselves were disadvantaged because they had not been able to go to school in the past.

Listening to his parents, Quy was determined to study. In 2010, Quy passed the entrance exam to the Nghe An Province Boarding Ethnic High School, but thinking that his older sister was studying far from home and his younger brother was still young, in order to help with housework and ease the burden on his parents, Quy registered to study at Tuong Duong 1 Ethnic Boarding High School.

It was also from this school that Quy's voice became known to many people.

“I have been singing since I was little, I sing anytime, anywhere… Because I participated in many art competitions at school, many people have known my voice. In grade 11, I was assigned by the district to participate in competitions and performances organized by the province and achieved many successes. I cherish the dream of taking the entrance exam to an art school” - La Hoang Quy shared.

After graduating from high school, Quy applied to only one school, Hanoi College of Art. With his natural talent, Quy was admitted to the Vocal Music Department of Hanoi College of Art with a fairly high score.

Due to his family's financial difficulties, Quy had to study and work part-time at cafes and restaurants to make ends meet while studying in the capital. In his second year, a friend introduced him to a live music venue to audition and he was accepted to sing right away.

In 2013, Quy won third prize in the student singing contest in Hanoi. In 2015, Quy won third prize in the Nghe An Television Singing Festival - Sao Mai Award.

Not stopping there, Quy continued to compete and was admitted to the Military University of Culture and Arts; in 2017, he won the third prize of Nghe An Voices organized by Muong Thanh and Nghe An Radio and Television Station. At the Hai Duong - Sao Mai final night, Quy excelled over 300 contestants to win the second prize in the chamber music category and entered the Sao Mai final round in the Northern region.

From a poor ethnic boy, Quy has done things beyond the imagination of many people. Mrs. Kha Thi Xuan (Quy's mother) happily said: "Due to family difficulties, his parents could not provide enough for him to study outside of school, so Quy mainly studied and worked to earn money to pursue his passion. In the past few days, when hearing that Quy had entered the final round of the Northern region, everyone in the village came to congratulate him on his achievements."

Many people believe that with his talent and passion, Quy will certainly go further on his singing career.
