The four excellent candidates competing in the final round include: Nguyen Ngoc Anh (Cau Xe High School, Hai Duong), Vu Tien Dat (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Dien Bien), Nguyen Hoang Bach (Nhang Phu High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University) and Nguyen Trong Nhan (Tien Giang High School for the Gifted, Tien Giang Province). Among them, candidate Nguyen Ngoc Anh has just passed the entrance exam to Hanoi National University of Education (group A with 28.5 points) and Hai Phong University of Medicine (group B with 28.75 points).
In the “Warm-up” round, Trong Nhan started his performance with confidence. Calmly answering the questions correctly, Trong Nhan scored 70 points - the same as Ngoc Anh. Tien Dat ranked 2nd with 60 points and Hoang Bach got 50 points.
In the “Overcoming Obstacles” round, although only one word was revealed horizontally, both Tien Dat and Trong Nhan pressed the bell to claim the right to answer the keyword. With his daring, Trong Nhan excellently revealed the keyword “East Sea” and rose to the top with a score of 160.
Continuing to gain an advantage in the “Acceleration” round, Trong Nhan left the other 3 opponents far behind and continued to hold the leading position with 220 points. Also in this round, Hoang Bach broke away to rise to 2nd place with 170 points. Next was Tien Dat with 100 points, Ngoc Anh: 90 points.
Unlike the other 3 contestants, Trong Nhan modestly chose the 40-point question package for the “Finish” round. Trong Nhan answered the first question very quickly and earned 10 points. Maintaining his form, spirit and courage, Trong Nhan demonstrated his talent as a specialized school student when he answered questions 2, 3 and 4 correctly. At the end of the round, Trong Nhan answered all 4 questions correctly and added 40 points to his score.
Although he chose the 80-point question package and answered the question of the hopeful star correctly, however, at the end of the contest, Hoang Bach only scored 240 points - still 20 points behind Trong Nhan. This is probably something that many people regret.
Also in this round, Tien Dat chose the 60-point package and the star of hope for the first question. Unfortunately, Tien Dat only answered 1/4 of the questions correctly. Ngoc Anh started the round with the 60-point package and the star of hope for question number 3, so she got 3/4 of the correct answers.
Thus, after 4 rounds with a total score of 260, Trong Nhan "beaten" 3 contestants, winning the laurel wreath of the 14th year of the Road to Olympia 2014.
The runner-up in the final round of the year was Nguyen Hoang Bach - the youngest contestant with 240 points. Third prize went to Nguyen Ngoc Anh with 140 points and Vu Tien Dat with 100 points.
Before entering the final round of the Road to Olympia 2014, Trong Nhan (Tien Giang High School for the Gifted - Tien Giang) won first place in the fourth quarter, and was also the contestant with the highest score in the quarter round among the four contestants in the final round (260 points). Previously, in 2013, Trong Nhan won second place in the final round of the Road to Olympia contest organized by the provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
