Chinese man postpones wedding to rescue sinking ship
Wang Xiaofei is willing to join the rescue of a sunken ship on a river in China, even though her wedding day is near.
Wang, a rescue worker in Beijing, was called in to join the search and rescue effort shortly after the Eastern Star, carrying 456 people, capsized on June 1, just five days before his wedding.
According toSCMP, Wang did not hesitate, set out on a mission and asked his fiancee to inform his friends that the wedding was postponed.
"My fiancee was so angry when I said that, she didn't even talk to me," Wang shared onSina.com.

After hearing her fiancé's explanation, Wang's fiancee messaged her friends and relatives on WeChat: "Saving lives is more important. I hope everyone understands."
Despite his girlfriend's understanding, Wang said he was still nervous about meeting his future mother-in-law. "I'm sure she will blame me," Wang said.
As the second day of rescue operations began, Chinese media reported on the difficulties faced by rescue workers and survivors.Global Timessaid the diver, Guan Dong, nearly died from lack of oxygen. Guan was the one who found 21-year-old crew member Tran Thu Ham alive and pulled him from the sinking ship.

Tran was checking the ship's main engine when the weather outside worsened. As water began to enter the ship, Tran managed to put on a life jacket and found an air vent to breathe. After the ship capsized, everything went dark, which scared Tran. Guan searched the area where Tran was hiding three times before finding him.
