The Criminal Police Department of Ha Tinh Province Police in coordination with Duc Tho District Police have broken up a professional dog theft ring, with at least 8 suspects arrested.

On the morning of June 1, Captain Tran Dai Nghia - Deputy Head of PC45 Department of Ha Tinh Police informed that at around 3:30 a.m. the same day, the unit coordinated with Duc Tho District Police to arrest 6 subjects including: Nguyen Xuan Hoi (born in 1971); Nguyen Van Khuong (born in 1979) in Vuong Loc Commune; Mai Xuan Hao (born in 1976) in Tung Anh Commune; Tran Ngoc Khai (born in 1965), Le Duc Thien (born in 1990), Pham Dinh Que (born in 1985) all in Duc Hoa Commune, Duc Tho District.

The subjects were arrested while stealing dogs and selling them to Doan Van Loc (born in 1954) in Dong Xa village, Duc Hoa commune.

During the search, the authorities seized 22 dogs weighing nearly 300kg, 4 electric guns, 3 pepper sprays, 2 switchblades, 2 homemade swords, 2 slingshots, 7 mobile phones, and 6 motorbikes. Notably, all motorbikes were equipped with electric shocks to catch dogs.

At the investigation agency, the subjects confessed that every day at around 1-2am, they used motorbikes to travel throughout the province, sometimes even to Nghe An province to catch and steal dogs.

When they found the dog, they approached and used an electric gun to shoot it, causing it to clinically die, then caught it, put it in a basket and took it away.

With that method, on average each night, a subject catches from 7 to 8 dogs, the most at night is 12.

After stealing the dogs, around 3 to 4 a.m., they brought them back to sell to Doan Van Loc. They sold each dog for 600,000 to 1 million VND. With beautiful dogs, they sold them to people who wanted to raise them, each for 5 to 7 million VND.

Continuing to expand the investigation, the Criminal Police Department coordinated with Can Loc District Police to conduct inspections at the family of Luong Sy Mai (born 1968) and the house of Luong Minh Cong (born 1969) in Ha Vang hamlet, Vuong Loc commune.

Here, the authorities discovered hundreds of dogs locked in cages and many dog ​​cages that had just been gathered at Cong's house to prepare for sale.

Luong Minh Cong admitted to purchasing from 300kg to 500kg of dogs every day from subjects in Can Loc, Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh City, Thach Ha... Then his facility sold them to dog meat shops in the area, the rest were mainly imported for traders in Thanh Hoa to consume.

Currently, the Criminal Police Department is coordinating with relevant units to further investigate the case.
