The accident occurred at 5:00 a.m. on July 9 on National Highway 1A, passing through Quynh Thach Commune, Quynh Luu District (Nghe An). At that time, the sleeper bus with license plate 20B 00624, driven by Nguyen Ngoc Tuan (born in 1982, residing in Hoang Thanh Commune, Hiep Hoang, Bac Giang), was carrying more than 40 passengers traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. At km 397 + 700, it suddenly overtook, knocked down a traffic sign, and then hit a brick truck in the same direction. After that, the bus continued to crash into the median, causing the front of the bus to flatten and overturn, getting stuck there. More than 40 passengers narrowly escaped death, while driver Tuan was slightly injured. The brick truck was damaged.
