(Baonghean) - It is difficult to imagine what the world would be like without young people. During the war, young people were the main resource to fight, protect and build the country. In the new era, the position of young people is questioned because of a small number of individuals who "refuse to grow up", live selfishly and are irresponsible towards the community. One bad apple spoils the barrel, but where there are bad apples, there are also clean vegetables and delicious soup. Is it necessary to throw away the whole barrel just because of one small apple? While in Western countries, the population is starting to age and the lack of youth is causing the economy to decline, we forget that, in addition to forests of gold and seas of silver, a large and growing young generation is also one of the valuable resources necessary for society to progress. Perhaps before we "sweep the ball", criticize and exclude young people, we should take a few minutes to reflect, put ourselves in their shoes and look at life, giving them a more sympathetic, generous and fair view.
When talking about young people, people often think of “dynamism”, “enthusiasm”, “creativity” but also “community spirit”, “sense of responsibility”, “solidarity and charity”. All of these qualities are common to young people of the new era, but are expressed in different ways and in different fields. There are those who, despite being afraid of blood and pain, still overcome their fear to donate blood. There are those with long legs and strong hearts, riding hundreds of kilometers to realize their dream of crossing the gate of heaven, hoping to return to chase away hardship and poverty from their homeland. There are those who are willing to say goodbye to their comfortable, cool air-conditioned rooms to go to remote villages, sweating and crying under the scorching summer sun, but their hearts still smile and their enthusiastic blood still boils. There are friends who live thousands of miles away, working day and night, studying and working, but their souls still turn to their homeland, which is struggling day and night under natural disasters, floods, or anger because the country's territory is violated, and national sovereignty is despised and despised. All of these are strong evidence that the young generation lives a meaningful life, worthy of our love and respect!
Besides the excellent young people, there are still people who live in isolation within four walls, indifferent to the life around them, even living irresponsibly, causing harm to the development of society. Recently, public opinion has been shocked and indignant at the moral and responsibility degradation of a group of young people such as the 18-year-old killer who committed a horrific murder in a gold shop, the unfilial son who left his sick father lying on the porch, the son who took care of his mother while his father beat her until she fainted,... But before using those individual cases to generalize and generalize an entire generation, denying the efforts and good deeds that they have contributed to society, should we look back at the previous generation, the mirrors that are not always round and bright for the young to look at? In the decline in moral character of some young people, is there any responsibility of fathers, mothers, schools and the whole society? In response to the above phenomena, the majority of young people have had strong reactions. Not only do they not agree or support, they openly condemn, exclude, and call on the whole community to get involved. It is thanks to the voices and strong influence of young people that we have been alerted to these alarming social degradations.
President Ho Chi Minh always highly appreciated the necessity and importance of youth in the work of protecting and building the country. He said: "Where there is a need, there is youth, where there is difficulty, there is youth". We, the young people born in the new era, must do what he taught and more than that, today's youth must live beautifully, live well so that society can see that everything needs youth, everything is difficult without youth. We must make sure that youth are not only the legs and arms for society to move forward, the waves and wind for the Vietnamese boat to cut through the water, but must be the heart, the brain, the heartbeat, the breath and the reason of the country in the new era. Let us not just be canals, small streams in remote mountains, stagnant ponds in bushes and grass along the roadside, but let us be big rivers, flowing more, flowing forever, flowing endlessly and pouring into the vast ocean!
