Thong Nhat trains to resume due to increased travel demand
Due to the increased demand for passenger travel on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line and vice versa during this summer and the preparation of transportation for students taking university and college entrance exams, Vietnam Railways will resume the Thong Nhat SE7/8 train pair from May 20, 2011.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Head of Saigon Station, said that train SE8 leaves Saigon at 6:25 a.m. and arrives in Hanoi at 3:28 p.m.; train SE7 leaves Hanoi at 6:15 a.m. and arrives in Saigon at 3:05 p.m.
According to Mr. Thanh, in order to create favorable, easy and comfortable conditions for train passengers, in addition to the methods of booking, buying tickets and taking the train that have been implemented at the station and ticket agents, since last April, Saigon station has implemented the program "Passengers take the train without tickets", initially applied to train SNT1/2 (Saigon - Nha Trang and vice versa).
Accordingly, after customers successfully book on the websitewww.vetau.com.vn, pay through transaction points, ATMs of Vietinbank; the system will automatically confirm the payment status on the "Reservation Form", customers will print this "Reservation Form" on the website and use it to go to the station, take the train. Customers taking the train with the "Reservation Form" will receive an additional 5% discount on the ticket price (along with the fare reduction policies according to regulations).
