House fire, three people died of smoke inhalation
On the morning of December 1, in Tan Thanh hamlet, Long Binh town, An Phu district, An Giang province, a fire broke out, killing three people in the same family.
The fire completely destroyed one house and over 50% of a neighboring house selling electrical appliances. Total property damage was estimated at nearly 3 billion VND.
Currently, provincial and district authorities are urgently investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
Mr. Tran Van Thanh, Party Secretary of Long Binh town, An Phu district, said: The fire broke out in the early morning of December 1st. The fire started from a level 4 house with a wooden frame and corrugated iron roof of Mr. Phan Hong Phong, born in 1974. Because the house was being used as a place to press scrap paper for sale, the fire spread very quickly from the front of the house to the back.
At the time of the fire in the middle of the night, the back door of the house was locked, so all 3 people in the house, including Mr. Phan Hong Phong and Ms. Pham Ngoc Diem, both born in 1977, currently teachers at B Khanh An Primary School, and their daughter, Phan Hong Ngoc, born in 2003, currently studying in grade 4 at B Khanh An Primary School, died from smoke inhalation.
As soon as the fire was discovered, the local fire fighting force and local people quickly sealed off the scene and mobilized on-site vehicles to control the fire. The professional fire fighting force of An Phu district and An Giang province stationed in Chau Doc area also mobilized two pumps and a fire truck, along with dozens of soldiers to the scene to participate in extinguishing the fire.
On the morning of December 1, leaders of the district Party Committee, People's Committee, departments, unions of An Phu district and Long Binh town, Khanh An Primary School... went to the scene, encouraged relatives and supported the family of the deceased with over 20 million VND, and supported the family of Mr. Pham Van Dung, the deceased brother of Ms. Diem, whose house was burned down by over 50%, with over 10 million VND to overcome the consequences./.
