At least one person was killed and nearly 350 homes burned down in Colorado in the worst wildfire in the history of the western US state on June 27.

US President Barack Obama has declared a state of disaster inColorado, where wildfires have forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate.

The move paves the way for access to federal funds to fight the fires, and comes just hours before Mr Obama is scheduled to visit the country.Colorado.

The fire has burned about 64,750 hectares and caused an estimated $3.2 million in damage. As of last night, June 28, 2012, local time, firefighters had only contained 15% of the fire.
