According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the North is preparing to receive another cold spell in the next few days, this cold air will reach 7 degrees Celsius.

Oil heaters are sold widely at electronics supermarkets.

Because of this, many people rush to buy heating devices to protect their health and their families from the cold of winter.

Can't chase away all the customers

That is the affirmation of a heating equipment store owner on Ton Duc Thang Street, Hanoi when the number of customers coming to the store in recent cold days has been increasing day by day. With diverse, eye-catching products and effective heating functions, stores on Hanoi streets such as Luong Van Can, Ton Duc Thang, Kim Lien, Cau Giay... are always crowded with customers, many people even cannot buy goods due to "out of" supply.

“I had to pre-order, but when I got there, the machine I needed had not arrived yet. The store owner confirmed that it would be available next week, but with the number of customers pre-ordering more and more, I will most likely have to continue waiting,” said Mr. Thuan, who lives in Dong Da district, Hanoi. According to Ms. Thai, the owner of a store on Ton Duc Thang street, the prices of items this year increased by 10-20% compared to last year because many products were improved, designs changed, and raw material prices and shipping costs increased. However, the price of oil heaters this year tends to decrease slightly because the supply of this item is quite large.

In a state of anxiety because he could not buy a heater for his newborn son, Mr. Tran Duc Nghia, residing in Ha Dong district, Hanoi, said that for the past week, he went to many electronics centers as well as electrical stores to find a heater but still could not find one. When he found a satisfactory one, it was out of stock, only one product was left on display so the store did not sell it, there were many products that he did not like and the price was quite high.

According to the survey, the price of heating devices depends on the product type, material, design, origin with prices ranging from several hundred thousand to several million VND such as: Heating bags cost from 120,000 - 180,000 VND/piece; heating lamps, heating fans of brands such as Lion, Nova, SaiKo range from 130,000 - 790,000 VND/piece. In addition, there are other devices such as Woori electric heating blankets from Korea, priced at about 1.2 million VND/piece, Teknos electric blankets from Japan priced at over 2 million VND/piece. Oil heaters cost from 1.2 - 2.3 million VND/piece... Heaters priced from 1 - 2 million VND are always highly appreciated for their quality and functionality. Meanwhile, cheap heaters and heating lamps are both quick to break and consume a lot of electricity. Mr. Nghia added: “To save money, I chose to buy cheap products, but because of the cheap price, last winter I had to replace 3 heating lamps…”.

Beware of the downsides

Although it is a useful product in winter, heating equipment also has many things to note for users.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, owner of a store on Kim Lien Street, said that the best-selling products recently are infrared heating lamps, oil heaters, and most of all, funny animal-shaped heating bags...

However, because there are many different models, types and prices on the market, Mr. Hoang Vu, a sales staff at Media Mart electronics supermarket, recommends that consumers should not be tempted by cheap prices and buy heating devices of unknown origin. These devices can be dangerous for users, especially children and the elderly. Moreover, "fake" products often consume more electricity than genuine products.

According to Ms. Nguyen Lieu Ha, residing in Xuan La ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi, there are many products on the market that do not have the correct quality standards announced on the packaging and labels, and the safety of the products has not been assessed by any agency. Moreover, the prices are "sky-high", many stores even "look at the customer's face" to quote prices. Therefore, consumers who buy this type of product for the first time are easily deceived if they buy low-quality, ineffective products at high prices when choosing to buy at unreliable addresses.
