Only 10% of Vietnamese domain names are put into use

According to the latest statistics of the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), out of 370,000 registered Vietnamese domain names, only nearly 31,400 addresses are actually active.

Most of these domain names are used by the owners to redirect to an existing website, personal blog... Previously, they could not change the registered link to redirect. However, VNNIC has just improved the tool so that users can freely change the site address that the owner wants to redirect.

After less than 5 months of free and open issuance, the number of Vietnamese domain names has doubled the total number of .vn domain names issued in the past 10 years (as of August 25, it was 160,338).

According to Google Analytics, the most used browser to access Vietnamese domain names is Google Chrome (58%), followed by Firefox (35%), Safari (2.35%) and Internet Explorer (2.02%). In addition, the percentage of users typing Vietnamese domain names directly into the address bar is 40.86% while the click rate from links is 57.55%. VNNIC representatives said that the number of direct accesses will decrease further when search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing... know more about Vietnamese domain names.
