Vice Chairman of the District, on the orders of the Chairman of the DistrictViet Yen (Bac Giang province)directed the district police to investigate and clarify the case of reporter Do Van Tuan of Vietnam Literature Magazine being assaulted.

Previously, on August 4, 2016, reporter Do Van Tuan, thematic department of Van Hien Viet Nam Magazine, said that on the morning of August 4, 2016, Mr. Tuan went to the scene to record the actual process of enforcing and clearing the traffic safety corridor (HLATGT) of National Highway 37 (the section running through Dinh Tram Industrial Park, Viet Yen, Bac Giang). After taking photos and recording the enforcing process, Mr. Tuan returned home in Hoang Mai village, Hoang Ninh commune (Viet Yen, Bac Giang).

At around 10:45 a.m. the same day, as soon as I got out of the car, reporter Do Van Tuan was slashed from head to back by two masked guards riding a Honda Dream, causing me to fall onto the street.

On August 6, 2016, speaking with reporters, Mr. Tuan said: “I went to record information about the clearance of the traffic safety corridor on Highway 37 and did not have any conflicts with anyone. At around 10:45, I returned to my home in Hoang Mai village when I was suddenly slashed from behind by two people on a motorbike, their faces covered, leaving me stunned. It is very possible that the people who slashed me were locals and were protecting the encroaching shacks along Highway 37 that were being cleared…”

To broaden public opinion, PV spoke by phone with Mr. Le O Pich, Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province. Over the phone, Mr. Pich confirmed: "On the morning of August 4, 2016, the People's Committee of Viet Yen District coordinated with a group of agencies to carry out enforcement and clear away the shacks encroaching on the roadside of National Highway 37. Present at the scene, initially enforcing traffic safety regulations, but PV Tuan did not discuss that he would work and did not present his identification papers to the authorities...".

According to Mr. Pich, with the hooligan nature of the subjects who assaulted the reporter, and overlapping with the enforcement of traffic safety clearance, on August 5, 2016, the District People's Committee issued an official document directing the District Police to investigate and clarify the above incident.
