Sister-in-law bit off sister-in-law's tongue because of the pot
Just because of a pot, two women who were married into the same family had a conflict and got into a fight. During the fight, the older daughter-in-law bit off the younger daughter-in-law’s tongue.
On August 9, the first instance People's Court of Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province sentenced defendant Nguyen Thi Tuyet Sen (29 years old; residing in Phuoc Loc commune, Tuy Phuoc district) to 9 months in prison for the crime of "Intentionally causing injury".
Sen's victim was his young daughter-in-law Nguyen Thi No (26 years old, living in the same house), the wife of Sen's husband's younger brother.

According to the indictment, due to difficult circumstances, after getting married, Sen and No both lived with the husband’s parents in Dai Tin village, Phuoc Loc commune. Although they lived together, conflicts often arose between the two daughters-in-law over the use of household items.
At around 11:00 a.m. on July 14, 2017, Sen came home from work and argued with Ms. No about using a basin. Then the two of them started fighting and scratching each other.
During the fight, Sen bit off part of Ms. No's tongue with his teeth. Although her family took her to the hospital immediately, the severed part of Ms. No's tongue could not be stitched up due to necrosis.
After returning from hospital treatment, Ms. No had difficulty eating and speaking. To communicate, she had to write on paper or use hand signals.
According to the forensic conclusion, Ms. No lost the tip of her tongue measuring 2.5x2.5x3 cm, leading to speech disabilities, slurred speech, and tongue tip paresthesia. The rate of physical damage caused by the injury was 8% along with mental damage of 21%.
In addition to the verdict, the first instance panel also ordered defendant Sen to compensate the victim with a total amount of more than 63.5 million VND.
