(Baonghean.vn) -Ms. Dao Thi Hang, born in 1974, in Nong Trang village, Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district (Nghe An) was previously a teacher who loved her job, but unfortunately she suffered from heart disease and was not strong enough to continue working, so she had to submit a resignation letter. Every day she had to endure excruciating heart attacks, while her family's circumstances were too difficult, and she did not have money to continue treatment.
Looking at Ms. Hang sitting in the corner of the bed, pale, thin, with a bloated stomach, unable to speak, everyone felt sympathy. Struggling to say each word, Ms. Hang said: In 1996, she graduated from Nghe An Mountainous Pedagogical College, and started working at Chau Binh Primary School, Quy Chau District. As a young, enthusiastic teacher, loving her job, always having a high sense of responsibility for her work, every year she excellently completed the assigned tasks. In 2004, she started a family with Mr. Tran Song Hai, who was from the same village and worked at the same school.
When she was pregnant for the first time, she unfortunately had a miscarriage, and her heart disease was discovered at that time. In 2007, her family took her to Bach Mai Hospital for treatment. Doctors diagnosed her with mitral valve stenosis and regurgitation, stage 2 heart failure, and calcified heart valves, requiring surgery to replace the heart valve. She was then transferred to Viet Duc Hospital for heart valve replacement surgery, the cost of the surgery was 120 million VND. Although her relatives and friends lent her money for treatment, they still did not have enough money for the surgery, so her family had to take her home.
By 2009, her heart disease had gotten worse, and she had to be hospitalized from one hospital to another. Each time she was hospitalized, she had to spend tens of millions of dong. Therefore, she had to sell all the assets in the house at a low price to have money to pay for medicine and hospitalization. By 2010, due to her poor health, the school created conditions for her to find a suitable job, from teaching to serving. And now she has retired with a one-time subsidy.
Ms. Hang is being cared for at home by relatives.
In 2011, while her heart disease was getting worse, her husband suddenly passed away in an accident. So, after many years of marriage and no children, her husband passed away, leaving her alone with a heart disease in a dilapidated, empty two-room house. Everything from medicine to taking her to the hospital depended on the care of her paternal and maternal siblings.
Now, she lives alone in the house with a heart condition that is getting worse, her belly is getting bigger every day due to polyhydramnios, making it very difficult to move around. There is nothing left in the house to sell, and there is no place to borrow money. She confided to us that she wished she had a hundred million VND to have heart surgery, hoping that her condition would improve.
