(Baonghean.vn) - With the theme: "Saving to improve the quality of life and support poor women", Nghi Loc District Women's Union has implemented the movement effectively and practically.

Ms. Dao Thi Tuyet's family in Hamlet 4, Nghi Van Commune, was very poor 5 years ago, living in a house that did not have enough shade from the sun or rain, but now her family has a spacious house and a mixed livestock farm with hundreds of free-range chickens and 30 pigs.

This result started in early 2011, when Ms. Tuyet was lent 20 million VND by the women in the commune to invest in raising livestock and poultry. Thanks to her diligence, willingness to learn, and the material and spiritual encouragement of her sisters, her family escaped poverty and built a spacious house like today.

Up to now, after deducting expenses, each year her family earns more than 70 million VND from production and livestock farming. Ms. Tuyet happily said: "Thanks to the savings movement, my family is where we are today. Now that I have a comfortable life, I save 50,000 VND each month to help people less fortunate than me."

Many women in Nghi Loc district have participated in the "Saving pig farming" and "Saving money tubes" models... After 5 years of implementation, up to now, officials and members in the district have donated a total of 23.6 billion VND, 4,260 kg of rice and more than 18,000 working days... creating conditions for 2,820 members to borrow to develop production and livestock; supporting 2.7 billion VND for 1,300 women in difficult circumstances to improve their lives.

This source of capital has helped 1,000 women's households escape poverty, contributing to the locality's reduction of the poverty rate in the district to 3.5%. Thereby, 563 models of women doing good business have been built with an annual income of 85 million VND or more.

Along with implementing the savings model at home, Nghi Loc women's union members also actively "raise savings pigs" at grassroots women's union levels. At the same time, they mobilized agencies and businesses to help poor households build shelters of love; they supported the construction of 38 new "Shelters of Love" houses for poor women and women in especially difficult circumstances.
