Details of the 10th grade entrance exam schedule for all 63 provinces and cities.

As of May 20th, all 63 provinces and cities nationwide have announced the enrollment schedule for 10th grade in public schools for the 2025-2026 school year.

Of these, only four localities—Ca Mau, Gia Lai, Vinh Long, and Lam Dong—apply the method of admission based on academic transcripts for all students. The remaining localities all organize entrance exams.

The exam usually lasts two days and includes three main subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and a third subject determined by each province, most commonly English or other foreign languages.

In Ha Giang and some boarding schools in Binh Thuan, History and Geography were chosen as the third subject. Some localities such as Quang Tri, Hau Giang, and Hue City organized the exam in a single day. Candidates applying for specialized classes had to take an additional exam on a separate day.

Bac Lieu province was the first to hold its exams, starting on May 23rd. Many other localities such as Binh Duong, Binh Thuan, Dien Bien, Dong Nai, Lai Chau, and Quang Tri also held exams in May.

Most of the remaining provinces and cities will hold their exams in the first week of June. Vinh Long is the province with the latest exam date, expected to take place in early July.

The schedule for the 2025-2026 public high school entrance exams in all 63 provinces and cities is as follows:

Grade 10 admissions from 2025: Local authorities can choose their own admission methods, without applying any weighting factor to exam scores.

According to the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, from 2025, provinces and cities can choose their own admission methods for 10th grade in public schools — including entrance exams, selection based on academic records, or a combination of both.

If an entrance exam is held, the compulsory exam will consist of two subjects, Mathematics and Literature, along with a third subject or a combined test. The third subject will be chosen from graded subjects, but cannot be repeated for more than three consecutive years to ensure flexibility and prevent rote learning.

Admission scores are calculated based on the total score of three exam subjects, each graded on a 10-point scale, without any weighting factors. This helps provinces to have a fairer and more consistent assessment in the admissions process.
