Thailand records record number of Covid-19 cases in just one day
The Thai Ministry of Health recommends that people avoid crowded places and civil servants not travel abroad at this time.
On the afternoon of March 15, Dr. Sukhum Kanchanapimai, Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Public Health, said that 32 more cases of SARS-CoV-2 virus were detected, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 114. This is the largest number of infections detected in Thailand in one day.

The new cases in Thailand that tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 include nine people gathered at a Muay Thai boxing ring, three people infected at a restaurant at Suvarnabhumi Airport, three people infected at bars and seven others from epidemic areas, including two foreigners. The remaining cases are still under investigation for the source of infection.
In addition, Thailand is also awaiting test results of 51 other people who had close contact with the above positive patients. Also today, March 15, Thailand received 80 cases from Italy, of which 6 people showed symptoms of infection and were taken to the hospital for isolation and testing.
To cope with the Covid-19 outbreak, the Thai Ministry of Health has advised people to avoid crowded places and civil servants to not travel abroad at this time. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has urged people not to hoard food and not to panic. The government will ensure adequate food supply to meet the needs.
In addition, the Thai government also announced that it has prepared necessary plans if the epidemic enters phase 3, ready to open new treatment centers or completely convert some hospitals into specialized hospitals for Covid-19 treatment.
