Sharing the loss of the family of a worker who died in a work accident at Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company (Anh Son)

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao in Phuc Son commune, Anh Son district, has a husband named Nguyen Huu Nga - one of the three workers who died in a work accident while maintaining a cement silo at Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company on the afternoon of January 24, 2025. The incident happened when Ms. Hao had just returned from chemotherapy and breast cancer treatment. The incident happened, the main breadwinner in the family passed away, causing even more grief for family members.

At 3:15 p.m. on January 24, 2025, a work accident at Song Lam II Cement Factory (in Hoi Son commune, Anh Son district) killed 3 workers, including: Nguyen Huu Nga, born on July 15, 1976, Tran Van Huyen, born on June 26, 1970, both residing in Phuc Son commune, Anh Son district (Nghe An) and the victim Thai Ba Minh, born on March 10, 1971, residing in Hoa Son commune, Anh Son district (Nghe An).

Immediately after the accident, Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company established working groups to visit the families of the deceased workers to share their grief and loss and take care of everything to bring their colleagues to their final resting place. Before, during and after the recent Lunar New Year, working groups of Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company also regularly visited the 3 families of the deceased workers to visit and burn incense.

Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company also provided 650 million VND in support to each family of the deceased worker, including 50 million VND for burial support and 600 million VND to help the families stabilize their lives. The leaders and the Trade Union of Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company and Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company also called on all staff and employees of the two units to donate additional funds to help the 3 families of the deceased workers take care of their future lives.

Through the exchange, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao, wife of Mr. Nguyen Huu Nga (Phuc Son commune - Anh Son) said: “Mr. Nga has worked for 17 years at Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company. He had a lot of attachment to his colleagues and the company. But the work accident took him away forever. That was something he did not want, nor did his family and the company want. I understand that and suppressed my grief and tried hard with my children in life. When the incident happened, the company sent brothers and sisters to support the family, from cremation to burial, setting up an altar for my husband. The support from the company hopes to help the children study in the future…”.

According to Ms. Hao, the leader of Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company also raised the issue that if her children later study the majors that the company needs and have a need to work for the company, the company will give priority to accepting them.

Mr. Dang Dinh Dong - Deputy Director of Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company said: “The company clearly defines its responsibility when the heartbreaking incident occurred. The 3 deceased workers were all people who had been with the unit for many years. That loss is a great lesson in factory operations. Through the incident, it also shows that the company's staff and workers have deeply shared with the families of their colleagues, to rise up together in life. Once again, we would like to share with the families of the deceased workers. After the incident, we reviewed the entire labor safety process and immediately added solutions to ensure production safety."

After the work accident at Song Lam 2 Cement Joint Stock Company occurred, leaders of the Anh Son District Party Committee, People's Committee, and Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation visited, encouraged, and provided support to the 3 families of the deceased workers. At the same time, relevant levels and sectors also inspected the entire production safety assurance process at Song Lam II Cement Joint Stock Company and recommended practical solutions.
