Admire the Vietnamese flag flying on the 'Roof of Indochina'
The flag is 4.5 x 3m in size, made from special material, capable of withstanding sun, rain, wind and storms on Fansipan peak.

Coming to Sapa now, besides touching the “Roof of Indochina” or participating in unique local festivals, visitors can also admire the tallest flagpole in Indochina - the sacred symbol of the Fatherland. The flagpole has a total height of 25m, consisting of three parts: base, foot and body. Each part of the flagpole is meticulously and firmly built from quality stone and wood materials such as Thanh Hoa green stone and Tu Thiet wood. |

The base of the flagpole is square, with elaborately carved reliefs depicting typical images of Vietnamese culture such as Central Highlands gongs, Northwestern stilt houses, etc. The author of this magnificent architectural work is the famous architect Bill Bensley - who has a special passion for Vietnamese culture - who has brought the traditional cultural quintessence of the three regions of the country together here, at the foot of the sacred flagpole. |

To build this meaningful work, the construction workers of Sun World Fansipan Legend Tourist Area worked tirelessly for five months, in the cold that sometimes dropped to -2 degrees Celsius. Tons of raw materials were transported by human power, most of the details of the project were handcrafted. Even the flag with an exceptional size (4.5 x 3m) flying on the flagpole at the sacred peak of Vietnam is a special type of flag, custom-made with special materials, capable of withstanding sun, rain, wind and storms. |

The first flag-raising ceremony at the peak of the four-season cloud cover was solemnly held on January 13, 2017. And after that sacred moment, on the top of Fansipan, every Monday of the week, the flag-raising ceremony is solemnly performed by the security soldiers of the Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area. |

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Sun World Fansipan Legend welcomed a group of 100 veterans and Sapa team members to the top of Fansipan to attend the flag-raising ceremony. The event was to pay tribute to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland. |

The flagpole on Fansipan peak and the solemn flag-raising ceremony have added more colors and experiences to the journey of those who love Sapa. In addition to experiencing the cable car, admiring the majestic mountains and rivers from above, touching the sacred peak of Fansipan, visitors now have more pride when witnessing the solemn flag-raising ceremony on the windy peak. |
