Speaking on Russia 24 TV channel, Mr. Medvedev stated: "We are protecting the Russian people from the threat of terrorism, because it is better to have the conditions to fight terrorism abroad than to deal with them at home."
The Russian Prime Minister also affirmed that the most important thing is to resolve the Syrian crisis peacefully, whereby the conflicting parties, the Damascus government and opposition forces, sit at the negotiating table.
On the same day, Director of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian General Staff Andrei Kartapolov announced that the country will increase airstrikes against terrorists in Syria.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on the same day urged his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to reconsider the bombing campaign in Syria, accusing the Russian military of turning a blind eye to the killing of dozens of civilians.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), in the past four days, at least 39 civilians, including eight children and eight women, have been killed in Russian airstrikes./.
