Chile have officially become the 2015 Copa America champions after defeating Argentina 4-1 in a penalty shootout. The two teams drew 0-0 after 120 minutes of play.

This is the first time in history that the Chilean team has won the most prestigious tournament in South America.

Those who successfully took the penalty kicks that brought the championship to Chile included Fernández, Arturo Vidal Aránguiz and Alexis Sánchez.

Meanwhile, the defeat in this match prevented Argentina from equaling Uruguay's record of 15 Copa America titles.

As for Lionel Messi - Argentina's brightest star at this tournament, he has yet to win his first title with the national team. The last time Messi missed that opportunity was when Argentina lost 0-1 to Germany in the 2014 World Cup final.

This defeat is really a pity when Argentina is a team with more even strength and quality than Chile.

The final match was dramatic and tight right after the referee's whistle. Many dangerous opportunities were created by both teams in front of each other's goal, however after 120 minutes of play, no goals were scored.

This result forced Chile and Argentina to enter a penalty shootout to determine the 2015 Copa America champion.

On the 11m mark, Chile excellently defeated Argentina with a score of 4-1. All 4 Chilean players, Fernández, Arturo Vidal Aránguiz and Alexis Sánchez, successfully executed their kicks, while on the Argentina side, only Lionel Messi completed the task./.
