Government holds regular meeting in September
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requested the Government to focus on discussing, analyzing and proposing specific and drastic solutions and measures to further improve the investment and business environment; increase labor productivity; restructure the economy and implement three strategic breakthroughs.

Chaired by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, over two days (September 29 and 30), the Government held its regular September 2014 meeting, focusing on assessing the socio-economic situation in the first 9 months of the year and discussing solutions and measures to promote socio-economic development in the remaining months of 2014.
At the meeting, the Government listened to reports and discussed the socio-economic situation in September and the first 9 months of 2014; the implementation of Resolution No. 19/NQ-CP of the Government on key tasks and solutions to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness; Report on the arrangement and equitization of state-owned enterprises in the first 9 months of 2014; Report on the implementation of Directive No. 11/CT-TTg on resolving difficulties, obstacles, recommendations, promoting production and business of enterprises, contributing to the successful implementation of the socio-economic development tasks of the country until 2015; Report on the implementation of Decree No. 136/2013/ND-CP of the Government stipulating support policies for social protection beneficiaries; Report on a number of measures to promote innovation in drug addiction treatment and expand the drug treatment program using Methadone; Report on Long Thanh International Airport Project;…
According to the report of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in the first 9 months of the year, the economy continued to recover in all major sectors and fields; economic growth in the third quarter was higher than the growth in the first and second quarters; GDP growth in the first 9 months was estimated at 5.62%, higher than the same period of the previous 2 years. Industrial production, especially the processing and manufacturing industry, grew much higher than the same period; agriculture overcame the negative impacts caused by natural disasters and epidemics and achieved a much higher growth rate than the previous year; the service sector continued to develop well; exports maintained high growth momentum and continued to have a trade surplus; inflation was controlled, the consumer price index increased low, market prices were stable; innovation and improvement of the quality of education-training, science-technology, protection of resources and environment were focused on; social security continued to be ensured; political security, social order and safety were maintained;...
Speaking at the opening session, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung assessed that the socio-economic situation since the beginning of the year has continued to change positively; the growth momentum has been clearer and more even; all planned targets have achieved positive results, accordingly, of the 15 targets assigned by the National Assembly, 13 targets are likely to be achieved and exceeded, 1 target is approximately achieved, which is the target of creating jobs for 1.6 million workers, and 1 target has not been achieved, which is the rate of trained workers, estimated at 49% while the plan is 51%.
In the spirit of striving to achieve the highest results in the set goals and targets, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requested that members of the Government focus on discussing and proposing specific solutions and measures to remove difficulties, promote production and business, and promote growth in all areas. The Prime Minister also requested the Government to continue analyzing and clarifying the causes of all limitations, weaknesses, obstacles, and delays in order to have measures to overcome and handle them.

The Prime Minister said that from the practical direction and breakthroughs in institutional reform, administrative procedures, restructuring of public investment, state-owned enterprises and commercial banks; supporting and removing difficulties for enterprises, production and business... in the past time, it has shown that with drastic direction, close coordination, focusing on each field, each specific task, it will certainly create strong movements and specific results in reality.
