Mr. Deaton was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1945, currently holds dual British and American citizenship and is working at Princeton University in the US.

Mr. Deaton's research revolves around three central questions: how consumers allocate their spending, how much of society's income is spent and how much is kept, and how best to measure and analyze prosperity and poverty.

By answering these questions, Mr. Deaton's scientific work could help governments formulate policies to promote social welfare and reduce poverty.

Speaking at a press conference after the Nobel Prize in Economics was announced, Mr. Deaton identified himself as someone who has always focused on world poverty as well as things that can bring humanity a better life.

The Nobel Prize in Economics is the last Nobel Prize to be announced in this year's Nobel season. Last year's Nobel Prize in Economics went to French economics professor Jean Tirole./.
