(Baonghean) - It seems that public opinion about some eel farmers in Hung Nguyen district "fattening" eels with contraceptive drugs has not yet "faded".

The incident started with a rather "detailed" piece of information on an online newspaper, which was immediately "copied" by a number of other websites and then spread rapidly on social networks as well as word of mouth. A number of online newspapers and social networks have exploited this topic from all angles. Every angle warns that eating this type of eel is harmful to human health, such as causing genetic mutations, gender changes; even the risk of cancer... They just "analyze" it as if it were real; as if the eel in Hung Nguyen had "eaten" birth control pills!

Quite promptly, VTV and some newspapers as well as the responsible people of Hung Nguyen district affirmed that there was no such thing as raising eels with contraceptives, it was all untrue. However, public opinion and social media were still abuzz. However, in our opinion, an incident like the "feeding eels with contraceptives" incident, for example, where the person "discovered" it based only on the words of one person (even if he was the owner of the eel farm), is really... reckless. It is even more reckless when people dare to write such a harmful article. And also, I don't understand why the information is published without specific verification. If (and it is possible) the owner of the farm was just joking and said that...

The fact that VTV and some newspapers only quoted eel farmers and those responsible for the matter to confirm that there was no such thing as "fattening" eels with contraceptives is convincing, but not very convincing. The problem is that if the authorities and experts promptly intervene; urgently conduct verification and appraisal to have a clear conclusion, then the problem will be seriously handled, and truth and falsehood will be proven. Do not let the reputation of Nghe eel be unjustly blamed!

Remembering the story "eating Nam Roi grapefruit can cause cancer" that was "announced" years ago; that false information caused grapefruit growers in the Southwest region to suffer for a while!
