Playing with one less player, Malaysia still forced Myanmar to share points
Playing with one more player for most of the match, Myanmar still had to draw 0-0 against a very brave and resilient Malaysia.
Under the wizard Avramovic, Myanmar showed a much stronger image. Although being rated lower than Malaysia, Mr. Avramovic's army entered the match very confidently. The tit-for-tat style of play, especially the confidence of central midfielders like Yan Kyaw and Win Aung in one-on-one disputes, helped Myanmar create a game that was quite equal to Malaysia.
Malaysia got 1 point in a losing position.
Facing the opponent's aggressive and fearless style of play, Malaysia appeared to be stuck and sometimes lost control. That was the reason why after 35 minutes of the match, defensive midfielder Robat received a second yellow card and had to leave the field, putting the home team in a 10-11 situation compared to Myanmar.
But in the midst of the difficult situation, the mettle of an experienced team was shown by Malaysia. Rather than having to defend with difficulty, Mr. Dollah Salleh's students even created many scoring opportunities towards Myanmar's goal. In the last 10 minutes of the first half, Amri and Jasuli took 2 very dangerous free kicks, fortunately for Mr. Avramovic's team, goalkeeper Si Thu played with concentration, both times reacting brilliantly to save obvious goals.
In the second half, the match was quite balanced. Both teams mainly fought for the ball in the midfield area, not many opportunities were created on either side of the goal. The most notable situation in the second half of the match was the two consecutive shots by Kyaw Chit and Min Thu in the 66th minute, but either they failed to beat goalkeeper Khairul, or they hit a Malaysian defender and bounced off.
The 0-0 draw accurately reflected the situation on the field and each team got 1 point after the opening match in Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
