Choosing Israel ATMOS artillery, will Vietnam have the production technology?
Besides tanks and armored vehicles, artillery is an indispensable component if we want to modernize the Vietnamese Army.
Reality has shown that there are first steps in this process, such as our showing interest and possibly soon ordering up to 200 T-90MS main battle tanks from Russia or 108 CAESAR 155 mm wheeled self-propelled guns from France.

However, since the initial information appeared until now, it seems that the CAESAR self-propelled artillery deal between Vietnam and France is still in the potential form and has not been implemented.
The reason, according to the assessment, may be because we want to move up to a heavy version using an 8x8 armored vehicle chassis, or there is another possibility that Vietnam is considering the next candidate.

If it really leans towards the second direction, which is to consider a new candidate, Vietnam can refer to Thailand's experience in choosing self-propelled artillery.
This Southeast Asian country has long purchased a small number of CAESAR self-propelled guns for the king's armored guard unit, and they highly appreciate its features. However, surprisingly, in the future, the main wheeled self-propelled gun of this country's army will be the ATMOS 2000, manufactured by Israel's Soltam Systems Group.
Why the above change? It should be noted that the features of ATMOS 2000 are not inferior to CAESAR because the Thai Army has full conditions to compare the advantages and disadvantages of the two types of artillery.
The core reason why Thailand abandoned French artillery to choose Israeli artillery is probably because Israel is willing to provide technological assistance for Thailand to produce domestically, a condition that is impossible for France.
Returning to the case of Vietnam, the relationship between Vietnam and Israel is currently very good, if we want to buy a large number of ATMOS 2000 artillery, it is almost certain that your side is very willing to draft a contract with similar technology transfer terms to Thailand.
