"Fighting corruption must be strong at the local level"
The Party's implementation of anti-corruption is very strict and unified, "words go hand in hand with actions". People expect strong anti-corruption efforts at the local level.
In recent years, the Party and Government have paid special attention to and directed the fight against corruption. Since the beginning of the 12th National Congress, many cases and many Party members involved in corruption have been investigated, disciplined and handled according to the law.
A typical example is the case of Mr. Dinh La Thang, former member of the Politburo, who was prosecuted, investigated, brought to trial and sentenced to 30 years in prison due to many violations. This affirms the determination of the Party and State in the work of preventing and combating corruption, with no forbidden areas and no one excluded.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed, “Once the furnace is hot, even fresh wood will burn.” This shows that there is no distinction between people holding different positions, whether they are in office or retired, if they violate the law, they will be punished.
From the cases that have been made public and strictly handled in the past, Mr. Dinh Van Ton, in Phu Yen district, Son La province, said that the Party's declarations and opinions and its implementation of anti-corruption are very strict and consistent, "words go hand in hand with actions". Mr. Ton hopes that the Party and the State will continue to strictly handle corrupt officials, making the government apparatus clean, so that the people can trust more and the country will develop more.
“Fighting corruption from the Central to the district level, not only party members believe, but also the masses welcome and trust. I hope that the Central comrades will direct more closely, specifically, closely and handle it more resolutely and quickly,” said Mr. Dinh Van Ton.
Mr. Le Thanh Tung, in Ca Mau city, Ca Mau province, hopes that the Party, State, all levels and sectors will focus on institutionalizing strict regulations, not allowing corrupt subjects to circumvent the law.
“I see that the Party and State have been very determined in the fight against corruption in recent times. Major corruption cases have been brought to trial and have been dealt with very openly, resolutely and have had results. We hope that in the near future there will be anti-corruption regulations so that those in positions of authority will be afraid of corruption and will not dare to commit corruption. By creating strict sanctions, corruption will gradually decrease,” Mr. Le Thanh Tung shared.
Recently, the Central Inspection Commission has inspected and clarified many particularly serious violations, decided to discipline and proposed the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Executive Committee to discipline many party organizations and party members who are senior officials. Mr. Tran Van Dai in Tan Lap ward, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province said that the fight against corruption has never been as strong and fierce as it is now, but it is necessary to overcome the situation of "hot above, cold below".
“As the General Secretary said, in the fight against corruption in Vietnam, there are no forbidden zones and no exceptions. Through recent cases, as well as the handling of violations by the Politburo members, the people are very reassured. The Party and State's anti-corruption viewpoint is very correct and accurate. However, the people hope that the Party and State will direct and take strong action at the local level,” said Mr. Tran Van Dai.
To effectively prevent and combat corruption, many opinions say that it is necessary to control personal assets, declare specific and transparent assets, and control and prove assets. In cases where assets cannot be proven, there must be specific verification solutions. Recovering corrupt assets has the effect of eliminating the economic motives of corruption crimes, thereby preventing and repelling corruption, cleaning up the state apparatus, and building people's trust./.
