From the synthesis of proposals for the 2018 Lunar New Year holiday sent by ministries, departments and branches, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has agreed on the plan: 7-day Lunar New Year holiday, including 2 days off before Tet.

Lunar New Year 2018 holiday schedule is finalized according to option 1.

Information from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs: The consulted units such as the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Home Affairs, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry all agreed with option 1, that is, 7 consecutive Tet holidays, from February 14, 2018 to February 20, 2018 (ie December 29 to January 5).

Based on consensus, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is synthesizing and submitting to the Government for final comments on the plan for holidays and Tet in 2018.

Previously, in a document asking for opinions from ministries and branches, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed two options for Tet holiday.

Option 1 is to take 7 consecutive days off, from February 14, 2018 to February 20, 2018. Including 2 days before Tet, 3 days after Tet, 2 compensatory days off because the 2nd and 3rd days of Tet coincide with weekly days off.

Option 2: 7 consecutive days off, from February 15, 2018 to February 21, 2018 (ie December 30 to January 6). Including 1 day before Tet, 4 days after Tet, 2 compensatory days off because the 2nd and 3rd days of Tet coincide with weekly days off.

In the draft proposal, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs supports option 1 because it is harmonious and suitable because the number of days off before Tet is 2 days which is not too short, the number of days off after Tet is 5 days which is suitable. With this option, the intermittent working days are 2 consecutive days so the negative impact of intermittent working is not much.
