On March 30, Lam Dong Provincial Police issued a decisionprosecute, prosecuted the defendant Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Thao (33 years old, residing in Ward 4, Da Lat City) to investigate the act of fraud and appropriation of property. Because she is raising a small child, the defendant was subject to the measure of being prohibited from leaving her place of residence.
According to initial investigation, at the end of 2023, Thao organized many hui chains, inviting participants through social networks. In particular, Thao implemented the form of "commission" hui with a commission rate of up to 30%...
After a while, the number of people joining the hui early decreased, Thao had to bear the interest. To maintain, Thao opened many new hui chains to collect commissions and used the money from the later chains to pay the previous chains.
By the end of May 2024, Thao was hospitalized to give birth and lost the ability to pay players. On June 6, 2024, Thao suddenly locked her Facebook account, turned off her phone, and left the area.
From the complaints of 22 victims, the police determined that Thao used the names of 11 participants to collect the money, appropriating a total of nearly 2.6 billion VND.
The case is under investigation, and the police are calling on those involved to contact the Provincial Police Department of Investigation to coordinate clarification.
