The district’s disaster prevention goals are to ensure absolute safety for people’s lives and property, and to re-examine key projects, dams, and hamlets that are likely to be isolated during floods to receive special attention. On this occasion, the district People’s Committee commended 5 groups and 7 individuals for their achievements in disaster prevention, control, and search and rescue in 2016.
| In 2016, natural disasters caused a lot of damage to Thanh Chuong district, killing 6 people, collapsing and severely damaging 37 houses, losing roofs to 233 houses, having to evacuate 13 houses urgently due to landslides, and collapsing 1,350 m of walls... Regarding agricultural production, heavy rains and whirlwinds destroyed 991 hectares of corn, 75 hectares of various vegetables, 127 hectares of industrial crops and 3 hectares of industrial tea; 9 solid bridges were severely damaged, 10 temporary bridges and 6 culverts were washed away by water... |

*To proactively respond to natural disasters that may occur in 2017,Ky Son districtStrengthen the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue at all levels, assign specific responsibilities to each member of the Steering Committee; ensure that 100% of communes and towns have plans for natural disaster prevention and search and rescue.

Implementing well social policies, disaster relief and overcoming consequences. Ensuring smooth communication during the rainy and stormy season, implementing well the 4-on-the-spot motto: command, force, materials, on-site logistics with the goal of "Proactive prevention, timely response, urgent and effective recovery.
Strengthen inspection and supplement plans for natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue in communes, towns and units. Organize a review of residential areas in areas at risk of flash floods, develop evacuation plans to prevent floods, etc.
In 2016, tornadoes and flash floods in Ky Son district flooded and severely damaged 26 houses, collapsed 1 house, 16 houses had their foundations eroded; landslides of the upstream dam and 200m of Xop Tu and My Ly irrigation pipelines; and damaged many bridges and roads. During the year, from the reserve fund and emergency support, the district supported 487 million VND for affected families and overcame the consequences of public works and social welfare caused by tornadoes and floods; mobilized 3.12 billion VND to repair essential works; of which the district budget was 2.22 billion VND, the provincial budget was 900 million VND. |
* Quynh Luu Districtalso deploying flood and storm prevention plans in 2017. In addition to mobilizing the entire political system and all resources to carry out flood and storm prevention work, Quynh Luu is also mobilizing forces to inspect and review the quality of all irrigation works, traffic, technical infrastructure, etc. in the area, to have a plan to arrange funding for repairs; communes with fishing boats must accurately inventory the number of vehicles as well as the number of workers participating in fishing; focus on directing production, ensuring all conditions to serve the production of the summer-autumn crop and the winter-spring crop to harvest before the rainy and stormy season; develop plans to ensure security, social order and safety to minimize damage caused by storms and floods.
On this occasion, the District People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 7 groups and 8 individuals who had achievements in disaster prevention and control and search and rescue in 2016.
