Take proactive care of your health against the effects of air pollution
To cope with the increasing air pollution, each person needs to increase their responsibility and proactively take care of their health to prevent harmful environmental risks.
Diseases arise from air pollution.
In the first half of 2024, the IQAir air quality monitoring system recorded Hanoi submerged in a foggy atmosphere many times. According to meteorological experts, poor air quality, combined with fine dust and water vapor, is the cause of this phenomenon.
In that context, people's health is increasingly threatened, especially those with chronic diseases, pregnant women, the elderly and children. Fine dust particles in the air can penetrate deep into the lungs and cardiovascular system, causing a number of dangerous diseases such as stroke, cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and respiratory infections.
In addition, polluted air also aggravates skin problems, reduces the ability to respond to treatment and easily causes some skin diseases to recur. Most common are allergic dermatitis, hives, and atopic dermatitis.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 60,000 people die each year from air pollution in Vietnam. In medical facilities, the number of patients increases during the changing seasons or on days when air pollution is at high levels.

Spend money "filterair"just a temporary solution
Air pollution is increasingly negatively affecting global health, including Vietnam. To cope with this situation, most people use masks when going out. A few who can afford it choose to invest in air purifiers for their families. However, these are only temporary solutions.
Ms. NTH (36 years old - Hanoi) shared: "My family bought an air purifier but can only use it in the evening or on weekends. During the day, when going to work, we still have to regularly come into contact with the outside environment. Especially during rush hour, the smoke and dust emitted from a large number of vehicles makes the air stuffy and difficult to breathe."
In addition, not all types of masks on the market have the function of preventing fine dust. Some specialized masks are sold at a higher cost than regular masks. Therefore, fine dust masks are not the first choice of people.

To protect health from the effects of air pollution, people need to proactively take preventive health measures and be responsible for preserving the living environment. From a social perspective, improving air quality requires long-term actions and coordination from authorities at all levels.
However, each individual can start by changing their awareness, thinking and daily habits to join hands to protect the environment and improve the quality of life.
Proactively protect health from harmful external agents
To protect their own health, people should form the habit of wearing masks every time they go out. This helps to minimize the negative effects of external environmental factors, including fine dust. In addition, in the family, it is necessary to avoid smoke from coal stoves, wood stoves, and people smoking cigarettes and tobacco in closed rooms, which affects the health of family members.
Everyone needs to build a good health foundation with a healthy diet, stay away from stimulants, limit alcohol and exercise regularly. A body with enough resistance will prevent harmful factors, while reducing the possibility of disease effects, shortening the treatment time if unfortunately sick.

Health experts also recommend that people with respiratory problems should limit going out when the air is heavily polluted, unless absolutely necessary. In addition, each person can proactively control their health through regular check-ups. This helps detect potential diseases early, even when there are no symptoms. This makes treatment easier and more effective, and helps prevent dangerous complications.
