Recently, a new strain of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) virus (serotype SAT1) has been reported worldwide, posing a high risk of entering Vietnam. Of particular concern is that current domestic vaccines do not offer protection against this highly virulent strain. In light of this situation, the agricultural sector and local authorities in the province are intensifying surveillance and proactively preventing the spread of the disease.
