Hanoi Chairman requests strict handling of assault on reporter

Hanoi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung requested the City Police to investigate, clarify, handle and report to the City Party Committee about the case of obstructing and assaulting reporters.

Regarding the case of Dong Anh District Police officers beating a reporter of Tuoi Tre newspaper, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung requested the City Police to investigate, clarify, handle and report to the City Party Committee.

The Hanoi People's Committee Office has just sent an urgent dispatch to the City Police regarding the investigation and handling of press reports related to the Dong Anh District Police obstructing and assaulting reporters.

Reporter Tran Quang The was assaulted while working at the scene.

According to the dispatch, on September 23, the press reported that some officers and soldiers of Dong Anh District Police assaulted reporters of Tuoi Tre newspaper and obstructed reporters from working on Nhat Tan bridge.

Regarding this incident, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung assigned the City Police to investigate, verify, and clarify the above content; strictly handle according to the provisions of law, report to the City Party Committee and People's Committee before September 27; and respond to the press according to regulations.

Earlier, early in the morning of September 23, at Nhat Tan Bridge, a person died under the bridge, on the bridge was a taxi parked. Reporter Tran Quang The, working for Tuoi Tre newspaper, was assigned by the editorial office to go on a mission.
